Pre election jitters

Well its Nov 6th and that means that election day is tomorrow! Here are my predictions.

The Democrats will pick up 28 seats in the house for a clear majority.

The senate however I fear that it will a pick up of 5, leaving the body split 50/50 with Dick B. Cheney casting the 51st vote.

In Minnesota, Mark Kennedy flamed out a while ago leaving now doubt that Klobuchar has it. I am going to go out on a limb and say that Hatch will win, but by 1-2% only. I don't think Wetterling nor Coleen Rowley can pick up MN-6 and MN-2 respectively. Wetterling had a shot after the Foley scandal but MN-6 is a highly conservative district (57% - 42% Bush in 04') so her even being competitive is a sign of greater national movement away from the Republicans.

Else where it looks like some of my least favorite politicians are getting the boot. Katherine Harris (R-FL) can't go by a week with out getting onto national news for saying something stupid. Actually, can't she just keep on campaigning? Even after its over? She is such good fun! She will loose by 20-30 points though. And Rick Santorum (R-PA) is fried. I will be interested to see how Tester (D-MT) will do. MT politics is a funny mix! Lieberman will go on for another four years, although the big question is, my 50/50 senate guess assumes that he does caucus with the democrats, and I sure don't trust him.

Disturbing voter suppression stories from out east are coming out too. Robo calls that start out saying they are from Democrats but are paid for by the NRCC (National Republican Congressional Committee). Not so bad right? The thing is, they call back after you hang up. Again. And again. And again. During dinner. When you are in bed. But people think its from the Democratic canidate because they don't listen to the whole thing that says "paid for by blah blah." How dirty and desperate is that?

So I will probably be up late tomorrow night, waiting for those west cost numbers to come in...
